The
village of Vallauris is famous for its pottery and is also known because
Picasso lived in the city. He created many great ceramics, sculptures
and paintings including War and Peace, which was one of its major artworks.
Our pottery maker is artisan creator in Vallauris, village of Provence
C?te d'Azur. He is experienced of 20 years of practice and its crafts
are entirely handmade. He shapes potteries, dinnerware and ceramics in
rustic or contemporary styles. He aims to create emotion with its pieces,
and creations are moving towards authenticity and finesse, very modern
or new lines, and yet inspired by the Provencal tradition.
The products are made from selected clays which are of a very high quality
and origin: Vallauris or Limoges.
This "collection BASTIDE" is the last work and best seller all
over the world actually. It has clean lines, delicate forms; the material
is a grainy black earthenware under white enamel. This serie emphasizes
the expression of the full and pure texture that the soil has, and the
beauty of the objects lines. After molding in black soil, including manganese
and granular vitreous silica called chamotte, it is fired over a white
glaze. From its special material, the pottery sounds high and brightly
with a very delicate sound, such as metal or glass, when you strike it
lightly. Every piece has a personality, color shading and facial expressions
are different.
"Un je ne sais quoi de..."It is not clearly definable what is
their style, but all the products are just special and simple, we can
enjoy the texture and the lines of each of these potteries. Forms and
materials derive from tradition, adapted to modern life.
